Why It’s Not Industrial

We are not experiencing Industry 4.0 or 5.0 — those are just upgrades of an old system. The Digital Revolution is a clean break. It’s not about digitising manufacturing or deploying smart robotics. It’s about changing the global operating model, from labour-intensive and time-based structures to outcome-based, portfolio-driven, and digitally-enabled systems. That means GDP, value creation, and even employment must be reimagined.

The industrial mindset relied on scale, standardisation, and headcount. The digital mindset is about agility, intelligence, and fusion — where human ingenuity combines with machine efficiency. Thinking in “Industry” terms is like trying to install a rocket engine on a steam train. The rules have changed. If you’re not thinking in terms of Digital Operating Systems, you’re not playing the real game.
