Modern organisations are facing an onslaught of incidental and malicious disruptions and disclosures. Regulations like EU DORA and UK FSMA 2023 force Operational Resilience onto certain companies, but the turbulence of technologies, geopolitics and criminality means it’s a topic that no organisation can avoid and the BCS SM-ITAM “Dancing with DORA” conference is just what a Service Management or Asset Management professional needs to keep up with Operational Resilience.

DORA is, of course the EU Digital Operational Resilience Act (not the 1914 UK Defence of the Realm Act, which gave us Prohibition, Rationing and British Summer Time). This brings harmonisation of the rules relating to operational resilience for the financial sector, applying to 20 different types of financial entities and third-party providers of IT services. It has, or should have, put operational resilience on the Board agenda but, of course, operational resilience (the ability to recover from security breaches and cyber attacks and carry on normal operations) is of concern to all companies in all verticals and any jurisdiction.

This conference will help Organisations to understand how to:

  • Help C-level sponsors to understand the criticality of building in measurable resilience for the precious sake of their business;
  • Unify operational frameworks and induce collaboration, not competition, between service management practitioners and their Cyber and GRC colleagues;
  • Go beyond legal compliance to create effective, organisation-specific, top-to-bottom, right-fit resilience practices;
  • Leverage their processes and data so as to expose the beating heart of their tech stack; and elevate them to the strategic business level;
  • Add service management competences such as Major Incident Management (MIM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), Configuration Management Database (CMDB), Supplier Management to enterprise-level resilience processes.

The BCS SM-ITAM committee loves to host cordial and hospitable conferences – it offers the rich experience of an in-person, low-key event that attracts professionals. Some are BCS members, but not all. And some may have deep experience to share as speakers, yet others may be more full of questions and curiosity – you’ll always find the greatest value where people come together to share. The conference includes a light breakfast, lunch and networking supper as well as tea and coffee breaks.

This conference is in the City of London on Tuesday, 15th October, You can sign up for it on the web, here.
