This is a technical evaluation of Hexawise, which is a modern pairwise testing tool. In fact, it is arguably inaccurate to call it a pairwise testing tool: more appropriate would be to describe it as a test design tool, since it has much broader capabilities than just pairwise testing. For example, it also supports every possible “triplet” as well as every possible 4, 5 and 6-way combination of tests. There is also the ability to allow users to generate risk-based test sets. Additional functionality provided by Hexawise includes constraining inputs, analysing testing coverage, ensuring coverage of required scenarios, requirements traceability, team-wide collaboration, reuse of test assets, and automatically generating not just input combinations but actual test scripts.
