James G. “Jim” Barr is an accomplished business continuity analyst and technology journalist, who started working with Bloor in 2020.
In the business continuity space, Jim has been responsible for designing, developing, documenting, and deploying comprehensive business continuity and disaster recovery plans for a variety of Fortune 500 firms, including RCA, General Electric, and McGraw-Hill.
As the VM/370 Systems Programming Manager for RCA, Jim pioneered a process for recreating remote data center environments as virtual machines. This process was instrumental in restoring operations at RCA Global Communications after a fire compromised their facility.
As a journalist, Jim served as managing editor at Datapro Information Services (now part of the Gartner Group), reporting on large systems and service and support organizations.
As a senior group editor at Faulkner Information Services (now part of Information Today), Jim founded “Security Management Practices” (SMP), an online journal dedicated to enterprise security, business continuity, and risk management. Jim is presently SMP’s senior editor and principal contributor, having penned hundreds of articles. Jim also contributes to Faulkner’s Advisory on Computer and Communications Systems (FACCTs), where he surveys topics ranging from IT management to the Internet of Medical Things.
Active in his southern New Jersey community, Jim serves as president of the Jersey Shore Pops, a non-profit orchestra offering a classical to contemporary repertoire.
