We think that there is a need for a healthy Enterprise Server 3.0 (mainframe) marketplace, in the main because an ES-3 server has capabilities that are hard to emulate on other platforms; and because proving that the behaviour of a very large, mission-critical, regulated system hasn’t changed after migration to a new platform isn’t cheap.

There is no place for a “mainframe silo” in the world of Enterprise Server 3.0 which means that the most important players in this market update are those with tools for modernising legacy environments, exploiting hybrid cloud, containerisation and Open Systems in order to make ES-3 a first-class player in business automation generally.
