Historically, the discovery of sensitive data has been mostly about searching through documents to support requirements such as legal hold. Regulations such as GDPR and CCPA have changed all that. While there are no vendors that can currently offer a comprehensive and complete solution across all data sources, along with advanced discovery capabilities that includes machine learning, it is clear to us that the vendors coming into this market from a data management background are further along this path than competitors entering the market either from the document or the security spaces.
