At its core, an Observability solution observes the behaviour of application code over-time and how it impacts the underlying technology. This provides an ability to spot unknown anomalies, sometimes even before the end-user notices and reports a problem. It changes the operations function from monitoring a technical system for alerts and trying to tie that back to the business service and users being affected, to one that focuses on the end-user’s digital experience as a series of events, a journey if you will, across all the technologies. In this way business risk can be assessed and priorities put on the most important business services.
