In our 2017 Market Update on Test Data Management (to which this report is an update), we described the three test data management methodologies present in the market: data subsetting, data virtualisation, and synthetic data generation. Although these remain the three principal methods used for test data management, in the time since they have seen significant shifts, driven either from within the space or from without. In this paper, we seek to elucidate these shifts, as well as the trends within and overall state of the test data management space.
